According to an April 9th financial report filed by Nancy Pelosi’s House Clerk, her husband bought Microsoft not long before the tech company announced a $22 billion contract with the U.S. Army.

The filing does not require an actual number. However, it shows a range estimating that Paul Pelosi bought $1.9 million worth of 15,000 Microsoft shares at a strike price of $130 and $1.4 million of 10,000 shares at $140 through call options on March 19.

Call options are derivative investments with pricing based on underlying assets, which in this case is Microsoft. It allows traders to buy the derivatives at a set price before the expiration date.

On March 31st, 12 days after Paul Pelosi’s acquisitions, Microsoft announced a $21.88 billion contract to provide the U.S. Army with 120,000 AR headsets for their Integrated Augmentation System design.

Microsoft’s stock price increased to $255 from $230, which is 11% higher than when Paul Pelosi bought the call options.

On Tuesday, Drew Hammil, Nancy Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, told Washington Examiner that the speaker “has no involvement or prior knowledge of these transactions.”
