Tuesday, the January 6 Congressional Committee held a hearing featuring a so-called “surprise witness” to testify against President Donald Trump.
Committee Vice Chair Liz Cheney’s star witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, a former low-level staffer for then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, said she heard of numerous ridiculous stories about Trump, which we will expand on in this article. However, Hutchinson also bragged about a job she expected to receive at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago days after January 6, an opportunity that fell through.
Hutchinson, just 25, most notably testified that Trump somehow took the limousine wheel from Secret Service agents on January 6 when they refused to take him to the Capitol. This was a rumor Hutchinson claims to have heard in the office.
For a number of reasons, this story seems like a fairy tale. First off, the Presidential limousine, named “The Beast,” has a barrier inside between the passengers and the driver for security reasons.
Republican strategist Alex Bruesewitz had comedic commentary on the impossibility of these accusations:
Secret Service sources are already denying that Hutchinson’s far-fledged accusations are truthful. Townhall’s Julio Rosas reports:
Peter Alexander from the liberal NBC News also debunked the narrative with information from his sources:
Federalist Co-Founder Sean Davis shared a tweet showing article clippings (attached) from an article naming Hutchinson as an aide who was in contention for a post-administration gig:
The corrupt J6 committee’s new SURPRISE WITNESS was so appalled by Trump and J6 that she…was planning to go work for Trump at his FL residence eight days *after* January 6 (article was published on January 14, 2021). This Soviet show trial is a joke.– Sean Davis, Twitter
Trump responded to Cassidy’s testimony on Truth Social:
Hutchinson also claimed Trump knew that supporters at the Capitol had AR-15s.
However, Cassidy had little evidence to back up this claim. The committee angled Hutchinson’s accusation as ‘corroborating’ evidence for the vague communications they obtained from Capitol Police. The audio, which was played during Tuesday’s hearing, is anything but conclusive:
So far, the partisan January 6 committee has uncovered nothing incriminating Donald Trump. Day after day, the taxpayer continues to fund an unpopular federal witchhunt.
