More details have been released in the Club Q nightclub shooting last Saturday night, including the explosive fact that the alleged shooter identifies as “non-binary.”
In court documents obtained by the New York Times, attorneys for the defendant requested the alleged shooter be referred to as “they/them.”

Also in the documents, the attorneys refer to their defendant with the “gender nonconforming” title “Mx” (e.g. “Mx. Anderson Aldrich”).

According to reporting by the DailyMail, the alleged Colorado shooter’s father is an MMA fighter and porn star ‘Dick Delaware’. The relationship between the two men is described as “estranged”. The suspect is listed to have employed a name change in 2016 via a petition signed by the family of the alleged shooter. According to the petition this was designed to “to protect himself and his future from any connections to birth father.” The suspect’s original birth name was Nicholas Franklin Brink.

Aaron F. Brink, MMA fighter, porn star and father of the alleged shooter, has a rough history according to the DailyMail piece. He was convicted of battery against the alleged shooter’s mom, Laura Voepel, both before and after the birth of the suspect [DailyMail]. Brink began starring in adult films in 2002 after being encouraged to do so by a producer. He re-emerged in the porn industry in 2019 according to reporting.

Aldrich is charged with five counts of murder and five counts of hate crime for last Saturday’s shooting. The 22-year-old killed 5 patrons of a gay nightclub and wounded 17 others in the rampage. The assailant was also previously arrested in 2021 on suspicion of making bomb threats, according to The Post Millennial. Two firearms were recovered from the scene according to local police.
