“We need a new president,” Ben Bergquam told me.
Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix, Arizona, was a memorable experience featuring more than a dozen conservative celebrities, including Steve Bannon, Mike Lindell, Tucker Carlson, Jack Posobiec, Dennis Prager, Candace Owens, and many more. I was able to ask Real America’s Voice border expert and on-the-ground reporter Ben Bergquam for his opinion on Joe Biden’s disastrous border crisis, which has let in record numbers of criminals and national security risks.
Bergquam did not mince words when discussing the flood of millions of illegal migrants pouring across the southern US border. “We need a new president, because the current one won’t do anything to fix it,” he told me. “It’s the policies coming out of Washington, D.C. that are—that are inviting the invasion into our country. So, until that happens. . .”
Chances for change aren’t completely hopeless, though, Bergquam added. “But we really need pressure from the people too,” he said. “Congress—I mean, they should be having hearings every single day, they should be having press conferences every single day.” So American voters should be pressuring their representatives. Bergquam said he’s “disappointed” with Republican leadership just as he is with illegal migration-loving Democrats: “[Republican leaders] should be shouting from the rooftops, and they’re not.”
I guess it’s too easy to ignore the border crisis when you’re living the high life in Washington, D.C.
Bergquam did have one main recommendation for fixing the border disaster. “The number one thing that could be done to fix it is President Trump’s policy ‘Remain in Mexico.’” This required migrants claiming asylum to wait in Mexico for their hearings, instead of fast-tracking them into the US without verifying their claims and hoping they show up again for their hearings. “If we had somebody that actually wanted to fix [the border], that’s the policy that would fix it,” Bergquam added.
If remaining Trump-era restrictions end soon, as the Biden administration wants, the already stunning numbers of migrants (over 5.5 million encountered since Biden took office) will become an “avalanche.” Criminal cartels control the border while the Biden administration encourages law-breaking and chaos. The Biden administration is even knowingly placing minors with sex traffickers.
Ben Bergquam is right. We need a new president.
