Memphis has become the epicenter of thuggery and lawlessness over the past several days and weeks. 

Since late August, four major stories of rampant criminal activity have been released to the public. We detail them below.

Kidnapping and killing of 34-year-old teacher while jogging

34-year-old Eliza Fletcher was abducted and killed while jogging in the city of Memphis, Tennessee on September 2, 2022. According to police, a man approached Fletcher and forced her into a waiting vehicle. 38-year-old Cleotha Henderson was arrested by the U.S. Marshalls in connection to the kidnapping and murder. Police found Henderson’s DNA on a pair of sandals where Fletcher was last seen, according to Fox News. Henderson is held without bond.

Man kills 4 and injures 3 on Facebook livestream rampage

Ezekiel Kelly has been arrested by authorities in connection to a Memphis mass shooting spree. Kelly is alleged to have killed four and injured three.

Kelly has a violent criminal history, but was given an early release from prison, according to Andy Ngo. He was imprisoned for attempted murder and attempted first-degree murder. 19-year-old Kelly launched a shooting rampage in the early morning hours of September 7th. 

Kelly is alleged to have killed a 24-year-old man in a driveway around 1am. 

The next victim was shot multiple times while sitting in a vehicle. 

Kelly is alleged to have moved to a local AutoZone store and opened fire, killing one man. The Facebook livestream captures Kelly allegedly saying “no faking, this sh*t for real” before moving into the store.

The gunman carjacked a woman and shot her dead to swap vehicles. The victim died at the scene. Another victim was found at the corner of Poplar Avenue and McLean Boulevard in Memphis. Kelly allegedly committed a second carjacking, holding the driver of a Dodge Challenger at gunpoint in Mississippi. Leading police into a high speed chase, Kelly was brought into police custody without incident, according to the Post

Local law enforcement has connected alleged shooter Kelly to eight separate shootings. 

Memphis police looking for men vowing to kill white people, day after Facebook Live rampage

Law enforcement in Memphis are desperately trying to search for a pair of men who were actively threatening to kill white people. 

The department released a statement, “On Thursday, September 8, 2022, the Memphis Police Department was advised of threats of violence directed at members of our community. These terroristic threats were posted on social media platforms and specific threats to events occurring in the City of Memphis. The two suspects making the threats are described as two black males between the ages of 18 to 21 years of age. Investigators need assistance identifying the individuals in the video.”

According to the video posted on social media, the men are plotting to kill white people based on their race, “White folks fixin’ to not like black people…They’re fixin’ to be marching by the riverside, ‘White Lives Matter,’…He [Memphis Facebook livestream shooter] already shot an old white man. I’m fixin’ to shoot a white old lady.”

Police arrest man in after he allegedly abducted mother and infant from Target store

Two men have suspected and alleged involvement in a Target store kidnapping of a mother and infant on August 31st. 25-year-old Will Kayes was charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated robbery and employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. 

Two men forced the mother and child into a vehicle. The duo ordered the woman to withdraw $800 from an ATM before returning her to the original location. 

The second man involved in the kidnapping remains at large. Hayes has been arrested in the past for vandalism and theft.
