Last Monday at a CNN town hall, Kamala Harris embraced her role as a radical progressive. Basically, the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate used the radical Democratic playbook. She expressed her willingness to eliminate private insurance, implement universal health care, and abolish the Second Amendment.
Luckily, Harris’s political positions are highly unpopular. Although many Americans — especially young Americans — like the idea of Medicare-for-all, support for it fluctuates as details — such as higher taxes, longer wait times, and less healthcare innovation — emerge above the surface. In fact, only 37 percent of the American populous supports Medicare-for-all once they are informed their taxes will increase significantly, they’ll lose their private insurance, and the healthcare industry would be governmentally regulated. Medicare-for-all is the prime example of the Left’s political rhetoric: It sounds amazing, but it’s mere fantasy.
Along with implementing Medicare-for-all, Senator Harris also expressed her radical plan to implement a full-scale ban on semi-automatic weapons. A ban on semi-automatic weapons is absurd. The Second Amendment is inherently moral. Not only would this specific ban undermine the United States Constitution, but it would also take away part of our God-given natural right to self-defense.
Not to mention, she literally has no justified reason to ban semi-automatic weapons. In 2013, the Department of Justice even determined that “Assault weapons are not a major contributor to gun crime” and that “an elimination of assault weapons wouldn’t have a large impact on gun homicides.” In addition to that, it’s quite evident that if you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the most common source of buying firearms among criminals was “off the street and the underground market.”
Hopefully, the American citizenry acknowledges the ignorant, manipulative, and unconstitutional acts committed by the Left. Kamala Harris, along with many other radical leftists, wants to eliminate private insurance, spend 32 trillion dollars on universal healthcare, and ultimately abolish the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. By doing so, not only will she be undermining the Constitution, but she’ll also undermine the most fundamental principle in American society: The fundamental right to individual freedom.
