WATCH: Elderly Man SWARMED During Juneteenth Event

Over Father’s Day weekend, many cities in America put on a party for “Juneteenth,” the newest federal holiday commemorating the date on which U.S. General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 and shared the news that the Emancipation Proclamation had been passed two years earlier.

Unfortunately, many of these Juneteenth celebrations went terribly awry. At one such celebration in Chicago, a large mob of people shut down traffic before proceeding to swarm the vehicle of an elderly man, shouting and screaming.

This heartbreaking video shows the man’s terror and confusion.

Across other cities in the U.S., including D.C. and Charlotte, Juneteenth events featured shootings and deaths, including the tragic murder of a 15-year-old boy.
