In a disturbing clip posted to Twitter on Tuesday, a man is seen being beaten, attacked, and dragged by a mob of angry churchgoers. The reason? He refused to wear a mask during mass and approached the altar.
The clip starts with a priest singling out and asking a man to leave the church, calling security. The man then gets up in front of the congregation, in defiance of the priest’s orders.
To be fair to the church’s congregators, the maskless man probably should not have rushed the altar, politics aside. In many churches in America, the crowd would have stepped in to protect the well-being of their clergy and the sanctity of their chapel.
However, it is impossible to justify the brutal beatdown that came next.
Soon after the man approached the altar, an entire cult-like mob of fellow “churchgoers” surrounds the maskless man, eventually beating him before dragging him across the floor.

I would offer this: Don’t judge the Catholicism by the failings of its subscribers. As with all religions, there are those who get it and those who don’t. While this person was wrong to breach the altar, the “mob” response was also uncharacteristic of the teachings. However, if the recalcitrant did initiate a violent act, which it appears he did, he learns yet again that violence breeds violence.
We all are served well to remember who holds the only true power.
Sensationalism…..he was attacked for not wearing a mask. Truth……he was attacked for refusing to leave when asked. He got all “you can’t tell me what to do” and he found out differently.
