The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), a once traditional, conservative organization, has continued its liberal drift in a shocking new way over the weekend.
A troop of Boy Scouts was filmed carrying rainbow “Pride” flags during a Pride parade in Seattle, WA. The troop was applauded by thousands of liberal attendees as they marched by.
The Scouts were filmed alongside a group of pro-abortion marchers, carrying a sign reading “Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights…Post Roe? Hell No!”.
Boy Scouts of America was founded in the early 1900s as a way to “prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law”. The aim was to train young boys in aspects of character, citizenship, personal fitness and leadership. Until the 21st century, BSA was seen as a traditional, Christian organization.
The 21st century brought with it a decline in membership and an incline in liberal values.
In 2013, the National Council of BSA voted to allow openly gay individuals into the Scouts program.
In 2015, openly gay adult leaders were allowed into BSA by national Scouting leadership.
In 2019, the BSA began admitting girls into the program.
In 2020, the BSA launched a “diversity and inclusion” merit badge, in direct support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Boy Scout membership dropped by 43% from 2019 to 2020, according to Newsweek.
