Social media was ablaze with chatter Monday evening, as an exclusive report from Politico circled the nation. According to this piece, Politico received a leaked initial draft of a majority opinion – outlining their decision to strike down Roe v. Wade.
The source of the leaked document is in question. A draft being leaked to the public before a decision has never happened in the history of the Supreme Court, and it’s considered a grave violation of both judicial ethics. Lawyer and commentator Ben Shapiro speculated that the leak likely originated from a staffer within leftist-leaning Sonia Sotomayor’s office. The purpose of such a leak would be to upset public opinion to put pressure on the court before a final, public decision is reached.
Conservative Twitter users pointed out the need for pro-life advocates to be ready for a coordinated attack:
Socialist senator Bernie Sanders called on congress to permanently codify Roe v. Wade as national law. If congress is unable to reach enough votes to take this action, he wants to end the filibuster with 50 votes.
According to reporter Drew Hernandez, Antifa accounts are calling for comrades to “terrorize” opponets of abortion.
More than 62 million babies have been aborted since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973. Every year, more than 1 million babies are aborted in America – which is around 2,900 babies per day.
