A lifelong African-American Democrat from the state of Georgia, Vernon Jones has come out in support for President Trump and against Joe Biden in an op-ed for the Daily Caller. In the piece, which was published in the DC on July 7, the lifelong Georgia democrat goes into detail about why he doesn’t trust Biden for himself and the black community and calls the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee a racist for his past policies, including bills that have led to mass-incarceration of the black community.
“Since that day in May when I announced I would support Donald Trump for President, my motives have been questioned, my integrity assailed and even my intelligence challenged. That’s ok.”
Jones has been a life-long Democrat who represented Dekalb County Georgia in the state legislature and was also the Chief Executive Officer for the County, which also manages the police department in Dekalb.
Rep Jones also states that he is motivated by the improvement of the huge number of Black Americans who have been helped out of poverty by the Trump administration’s efforts in its first 2.5 years in office. Here is some of what Jones said in his op-ed:
Joe Biden is directly responsible for the mass incarceration policies of the 1980s and 1990s, which decimated the black community. Biden authored the 1994 crime bill which imposed mandatory minimum sentences, disproportionately putting hundreds of thousands of young black men in prison.
President Trump has worked to undo injustices within our criminal justice system. He signed the First Step Act, the first major reform to our criminal justice system in a decade. Thanks to the president’s leadership on this issue, our criminal justice system is fairer, and our communities are safer.
As black Americans, we need to be aware of the clear choice in front of us. Joe Biden has betrayed black Americans throughout his career in Washington. President Trump has spent his 3.5 years in office fighting to improve the lives of black Americans.
We cannot be tricked again. Democrats like Biden will conveniently appear in our neighborhoods and pander to us from now until November. Why? Because they only care about black people during election years.
The leadership of Joe Biden and President Donald Trump is being revealed for us all to see. Joe Biden is divisive and ineffective. Meanwhile, President Trump is unifying, pragmatic and fearless.

Biden has supported numerous crime bills starting in 1976, with the most infamous being the 1986 Crime Bill, which some have said has created unfair sentencing disparities between whites and blacks for drug offenses.
