Two women who stole a seven year-old’s MAGA hat and harassed his family last August have pleaded guilty to hate crimes.

In August of 2020, Olivia Winslow and Camryn Amy of Wilmington, Delaware angrily snatched the child’s hat and yelled at his family while they protested outside of the Democratic National Convention.

A video of the incident went viral, gaining over 5 million views and sparking outrage for the women’s reckless behavior towards the child:

Shortly after the incident was posted online, Delaware police tracked down Winslow and Amy. This week, a year later, two women plead guilty to hate crimes and the endangerment of a child. Sentencing is set for September, although prosecutors agreed to excuse prison time in exchange for the guilty pleas. They also agreed to excuse charges for assault, attempted assault, and conspiracy.

In July, another young woman was charged with hate crimes against a primarily right-wing policy. Local authorities in Utah charged a 19-year-old with a hate crime over allegedly defacing a “Back the Blue” sign in front of a sheriff’s deputy.
