Congressman Brian Mast SCHOOLS Democrat Rep. on Flag Etiquette

This week, as Congressional offices prepare for a new session in January, Republican Representative Brian Mast (FL-18) posted a video to Twitter slamming Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18) for failing to properly stow her office’s American flag.

In the clip, viewers can see Jackson Lee’s office flag in a garbage can, a seriously disrespectful move, especially for a United States representative.

Going by official U.S. government standards, “Your flag should be kept completely dry and folded properly — into a triangle, with the union (blue section) visible — before storing it in a well-ventilated area. If the flag is damaged or worn out, it should be disposed of with dignity. The flag should not touch anything below it or rest on the ground,” Jackson Lee’s office failed to give old glory the minimum respect it deserves.

As a veteran who lost both of his legs fighting for America, Mast rightfully took offense.
