Former President Donald J. Trump has been unbanned from the social media platform Twitter over the weekend after a user poll was conducted by owner Elon Musk.
On Friday, Elon musk ran a Twitter poll with the caption, “Reinstate former President Trump”. Two options were listed underneath, a simple “yes” and no.”
Users had 24 hours to make their voting selection.

The completed poll had “yes” at 51.8% of the vote and “no” at 48.2% of the vote. Over 15 million votes were cast by the user base on the platform.
During the voting process, Elon Musk tweeted “vox populi, vox dei” meaning “the voice of the people is the voice of God”.

The day after the poll launched Elon Musk reported that 134 million people had seen the poll.
Once the poll closed, Elon Musk announced on Twitter that Donald Trump would be reinstated to Twitter.

During the voting process, Trump weighed in on Truth Social, telling his followers to “vote now with positivity”. Trump suggested he won’t be leaving the platform saying “…don’t worry, we aren’t going anywhere. Truth Social is special!”

The details of the unbanning were working themselves out over the weekend. YouTuber Kim Dotcom suggested a fix for retaining Trump’s original follower count.

Other notable recent unbannings included both artist billionaire Ye (formerly Kanye) West and MMA fighter-billionaire Andrew Tate.
