President Joe Biden’s trips to his home state of Delaware have cost the American taxpayer $11 million dollars according to an investigation conducted by the Fox News digital team.
The analysis shows that Biden has spent 181 days in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he has an upscale vacation home, according to CBS News’ Mark Knoller, who has kept track of the President’s busy vacation schedule.
The cost of the trips could be underestimated, as the President has used the plane for numerous trips between Washington D.C. and his beach getaway. Biden used Marine One and Air Force One for other trips as well, which have not been recorded officially.
According to a Fox News report, flights between Washington D.C./Joint Base Andrews and Delaware have been conducted 101 times since Biden has been President, with 71 of those trips made by Marine Force One and 30 other trips by Air Force One.
Former President Trump came under criticism from critics during his four years in office for using Air Force one to travel back and forth between Washington and his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Biden has a history of traveling from Washington to his home state, going back to the 1970s when he was a Senator from Delaware. Biden gained the nickname “Amtrak Joe” because of his former commute. Biden took the Amtrak corridor from Delaware to Washington D.C. from 1973 until 2009. Now, as President and the “Big Guy,” Biden’s traded in his old persona for a more elite image.
It costs an estimated $177,843.00 per hour to operate Air Force One, and taxpayers also get billed for the use of the Secret Service on trips. The media dinged the Trump administration repeatedly for Secret Service costs.
