Following months of numerous dust-ups with co-hosts Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfield on the Fox News show “The Five,” longtime news correspondent and host Geraldo Rivera resigned from the channel. In announcing his departure, Rivera posted a bizarre resignation video while he was on his boat in the Jones Beach Inlet near Long Island, where he currently lives.

“Off Jones Beach Inlet, see the tower,” Geraldo started his video from his boat. “Very bumpy, very lumpy, very lumpy day, off Jones Beach heading for the World Trade Center, Making pretty good time. Anyway in the Holiday rush hour traffic, I’d probably go faster on the boat, than on the Long Island Expressway. So, it doesn’t look like I’m gonna be on The Five, I’m not gonna be on The Five. As a result of that, I quit Fox. I’ll have more to say about that tomorrow morning.”

Over the last year and a half, Geraldo got into several dust-ups with the “conservative” hosts of the show, including one instance where Geraldo and Gutfield got into a heated argument about abortion, during which Geraldo pointed his finger at Gutfield calling him a “punk.”

“It’s been a great run, and I appreciate having had the opportunity, being the odd man out isn’t always easy,” Geraldo said.

The resignation of Gerald follows several months of turmoil at the network after it fired Tucker Carlson, cable’s formerly highest-rated host, following a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems regarding coverage of the 2020 presidential election.

Fox News recently announced a new lineup where Jesse Watters will take over the 8 p.m. spot, Laura Ingraham will slide into the 7 p.m. slot, with Greg Gutfeld in the 10 p.m.; Hannity will remain in the 9 p.m. time slot.

The new lineup will debut on July 17th.

Geraldo’s Fox News channel co-hosts paid tribute to him following the announcement of his resignation.
