A brazen daylight robbery was captured on video on the streets of New York City over the weekend.
A robber driving a Mercedes S-Class coupe chases an NYC resident driving a Toyota SUV and performs a “PIT” maneuver. The SUV driver attempted to drive away, but the Mercedes performed a second successful PIT maneuver. As the SUV driver found himself trapped, the robber operating the Mercedes leaped out of the vehicle with a handgun and robbed the driver of $20,000 in cash.
The PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver is a pursuit tactic used to stop a fleeing car by forcing it sideways into a spin. It is often used by law enforcement and dates back to the 1980s.
A spokesman for the New York City Police Department gave a statement to NBC 4, reported via MSN, “On Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 1640 hours police responded to a 911 call of a Robbery at 91st Street and 2nd Avenue within the confines of the 19th Precinct. When police responded they were informed by a 56-year-old male victim that he was driving a Silver Toyota Rav4 along 2nd Avenue when he was struck by a black Mercedes-Benz. The vehicles stopped and a male exited the Mercedes, and displayed a firearm at the victim and removed an unknown amount of cash. The suspect fled the location in the vehicle. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.”

This is another instance of an urban city descending into lawlessness. As left-wing activists push for police defunding and stringent regulation on policing, criminals are having their way in the streets. Criminal activity has continued to surge in 2022, with major crime up 36% just this year. Grand larceny is up 48%, auto theft up 42%, and robbery up 39.8% according to the New York Post.
