The Biden administration has taken rhetoric to a new level, labeling all conservatives with ties to Donald Trump as “MAGA Republicans” who are a “threat to democracy.”
Both the President himself and his staff have begun a verbal campaign against “MAGA Republicans,” even positioning these conservatives as domestic terrorists.
In a speech on August 25th, Biden began using the moniker as a branding term associated with the problem.
“We are at a serious moment in our nation’s history. MAGA Republicans don’t just threaten our personal rights and economic security, they’re a threat to our very democracy. They refuse to accept the will of the people. They embrace political violence. They don’t believe in democracy…”
Press Secretary Jean-Pierre did not hold back, calling “MAGA Republicans” a threat to democracy.
“The president thinks there is an extremist threat to our democracy. The president has been clear as he can be on that particular piece…when we talk about our democracy, when we talk about our freedoms. The way that he sees it is the MAGA Republicans are the most energized part of the Republican Party. This is an extreme threat to our democracy, to our freedom…”
This is part of a broader conversation, where Biden is attempting to brand the problem as simply the MAGA faction of the party. Biden said that “MAGA Republicans don’t have a clue about the power of women. Let me tell you something, they are about to find out.”
Former President Donald J. Trump enjoys an approval rating consistently well above 60% among conservatives – meaning when Joe Biden refers to “MAGA Republicans,” he is referring to the majority of the party’s voting bloc.
The Left has embraced the change in rhetoric, describing themselves as “thrilled” that “Biden is taking off the gloves.”
Conservatives had something to say about Biden’s statements.
Both members of the Biden administration and members adjacent to the Democratic Party have ratcheted up the language. In another speech, Biden would go on to threaten right-wing Second Amendment supporters with the power of F-15 fighter jets. A DNC advisor even went so far as to call Republicans “domestic terrorists.”
